Research
The research conducted by the faculty in the developmental division focuses on a number of areas including the social development of school-age children; stress and coping by children and parents; smoking and other health-related behaviors; effects of violence on children; coping with illness and community violence; infants and young children and their families; families of children with autism and other disabilities; early intervention; incarcerated parents and their children; the development and evaluation of school-based violence prevention programs; the impact of peer victimization on children’s psychosocial and emotional development. There also is a focus on older adults in the areas of successful aging, caregiver burden, coping with distress, adult mother-daughter relationships and geriatric education.
