Information for Current Students
In addition to information available on the individual graduate program Web sites, our students may find the following resources useful:
- Academic Calendar – In addition to when classes begin and end each semester, this calendar provides dates for registration, graduation and holiday and scheduled school closings.
- Graduate courses in psychology – This link leads to the VCU listing of courses.
- Graduate Handbook, Introduction [PDF] – This handbook provides a compilation of departmental policies and procedures for graduate students in the psychology programs. To access forms and additional resources, current students should log-on to Blackboard.
- Office of Records and Registration – This site provides information regarding registration and student records (e.g., transcripts, bulletins, registration).
- Ombudsperson – Ms. Dorothy Fillmore or Dr. Rosalie Corona can assist students with constructive resolutions to issues that are not easily addressed through informal channels (see p. 8 of the graduate handbook).
- Schedule of Classes – At this site you can see what classes are offered during a given semester.
- Thesis and Dissertation Guidelines – This VCU Graduate School manual provides an overview of format requirements. The Arrangement of Contents page is particularly useful.
- Opportunities for practical experiences – Most of the graduate programs in the Department of Psychology have opportunities for practical experiences. Students in the clinical and counseling programs are trained to be scientists and practitioners, and experiences in these programs involve work with clients. Students in the developmental and social programs also have opportunities to work with youth and families. Please refer to these programs for specific details.
